Introducing the Black Misfit....

I am Walter. You can get my specs from my profile. I call myself a "Black Misfit" because I don't fit into the typical boxes that Black americans are often placed into. I lean "conservatively" in my political positions. I prefer Norah Jones over Nas, Johnny Cash over Jay Z, and Brad Paisley over Beyonce (at least musically!!). Ultimately, I believe (not to sound too jingoistic!!!) in freedom. I HATE IDEOLOGICAL BOXES!!!! I believe we all have the right to think and feel as we wish without having to be in "lockstep" with our particular group or tribe, whtether those groups be based in race, culture, or gender. I feel the same way in my faith. While I am a Christian and do believe that we need a relationship with Christ in order to dwell with God eternally, I do not feel the need to personally bash other denominations (I myself am a member of the church of Christ), Muslims, Hindus or athiests. I will gladly defend why I believe what I believe but ultimatley God will be the final judge of us all, not me. Finally, I am a huge Tampa Bay Buccaneer, Miami Heat, and Florida Marlins fan thus making me a glutton for grief and disappointment!!!! I look forward to using this blog to write my random thoughts on life. Take care!!!!
